Transitioning

So in the last 7 days I have officially resigned from my position at Lost Mountain Baptist Church to start as the Student Pastor at Crossview Community Church in Rockmart, GA. Needless to say it is a very exciting, stressful time for me and my wife.

Even as I'm typing this entry I am at my office at Lost Mountain working on what will most likely be my last video for this church. There's a whole long list of things I have to train other people how to do before I leave so there won't be "holes" left when I'm not here. It sounds a little arrogant to say, but I'm amazed at all the things I've been doing both in and out of the realm of the student ministry. I guess it just goes to show my inability to say "no".

The church we're moving to is a great place! It's unlike anything I've ever been a part of before. It's the kind of place I hear about other people being involved in and think to myself, "Man! I wish I could do something like that!" Well, we are.

This will be the first time Crossview has had a Youth Pastor in their short, two year existence. There's no precedent, no traditions, no "old guard". It's brand new, starting from scratch youth ministry. I'm so terrified of messing it up it hurts my brain to think about it. But from what every person I respect in Youth ministry tells me, if you think you're prepared to do it, you're wrong and won't rely on God.

So, here's the start of the next great adventure...God, if You don't come through, we're going to flop! It's a good place to be!

Hey man, just found the blog for the first time. I spoke to your Mom the other day and she told me about the new church and everything that's going on for you and Crissy right now. Just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you guys and I know the Lord is gonna do some awesome things w/ you at the new church. Continue to put everything in his hands, like I know you will, and watch how he uses your new ministry! See ya man!

Hey Jeremy! We are so excited to have you at Cross View! It is a lot to take on but not just for you... it has been for all of us. God has given Danny such a big vision that its overwhelming at times. We all have had to learn as we goo with the Holy Spirit guiding our every move. I am fully confident of you and Crissy's place with us and look forward to becoming family:) Don't stress we all got your back!

Before the Blog

So today I went through a TON of old email, sorting out the junk and organizing what was left. I tend to be a bit of a digital packrat . One good thing that came out of this was an old email I haven't read in years from " In the Den ". Here it is, years before the blog started: I am frustrated, as of late, that people--good, godly people--are not advising on the foundation of a very basic spiritual truth. God has a will, and we can know it. And we should know it. And when we don’t know it, we should ask. And when we don’t see it, we should seek. And when we don’t understand it, we should knock. So I came across this video while looking for some new church media stuff. And it got me thinking, "If a car company is willing to invest this kind of time and money into promoting their product, how much more should the church be investing in promoting the message of Christ to the world?"
