Q of the D - 1st Edition

Many years ago when AOL instant messenger was THE only way to communicate on the web, a friend of mine would post a "Question of the Day" on his away message. People would answer in the funniest way they could come up with, and at the end of the day he would take the funniest answers and post those for all to see.

Well, I'm stealing his idea and using it on this blog. Only the questions won't be asked daily, and some may be serious.

So today's question is a bit of an ethical question I've been pondering...Just because "all people are created equal", does that mean that all people REMAIN equal?

ooh, fun idea. I don't know you, but I'll pitch in, although my answer is boring because I agree with Daniel.

1.Yes, in the eyes of God, because that is the core of unconditional love.
2.Usually not, in the eyes of humanity, because our actions (or inactions) tip the scales to identify our worth (lessness) to the general society and the greater good.

Apparently, I excel at snarky controversy and heated debate, so maybe i'll have more input next time.

Cool idea! Will this be daily? weekly? Whenever-I-Feel-Like-It-ly?

I have to go back to the statement before the question... as I don't know that I can agree that "all people are created equal"
It's quite an ambiguous statement...
Physically we are not all equal= look @ kids who are victims of alcoholism in utero... They enter the world having to fight harder than a "normal" newborn...
I guess we could say that all people are spiritually created equal... but doesn't it seem like everyone falls flat on their spiritual faces early on... so I guess I would have to say No...

In regards to a persons "worth" my answer would mirror Daniel's and Tammi's, so I don't have much to contribute...sorry.

But kudos to Casey for going to the physical/spiritual. I would have never went there off this question, and I think he's right. Still don't have much to add though...sorry again.

I'll probably do better at the pointless, just-for-fun type questions.

Is Beef IceCream a secret code or something?

I like Casey's comments about the question itself. Why should we assume that we are all created equal? A Calvinist might argue that some are simply created to be destined for Hell. Even if you don't believe that, if you believe in the Omniscience of God you could argue that since He knew from the beginning of time who would accept grace and who would reject grace we are all created with that fact in mind.

As to the idea of "staying equal", wouldn't the fact that in Heaven we will receive various crowns indicate that we didn't all end up equal?

caseyp...you brought a different take to the question but i can see how even the question of being created equal could be up for debate.

robert...i didn't even think about the life after death aspect, but the Bible also says that we will then lay all those at Christ's feet. Therefore, all being equal and Christ being exalted.

This is my take-I think we were created in God's image, then, yes, we are all created equal, but God in His infinite wisdom knew we didn't need to be robots who all looked and acted alike. I think we are all given the attributes of God, but unfortunately, sin got in the way. Once we accept Christ, it's up to us to develop His attributes. MOM

Pushing Through

I've been going through a spiritual dry spell lately. There's a few things I've been working on and learning how to do, but nothing that's really getting me excited. I'm still in love with God, but sometimes we don't "feel" in love; but that's when we must make the choice to love, even when our emotions run low. What a Difference a Day Makes

So, today would've been exactly 35 days away from me moving into our new apartment in Columbus, but that's not going to happen. We received a phone call this morning from the apartment complex that the apartment we originally looked at was available to move in as early as Friday! So while I was planning on patiently waiting for April 27th to start living and working in Columbus, God was orchestrating this new plan. That's not even the best part.
